How do I know if my pocket pet is sick?

It is important to pay constant attention to your small pet as it can be easy to miss signs of illness. We recommend checking them daily to identify any changes which may be indicative of tumours, respiratory illness, parasites or overgrown teeth. Here are signs that your pocket pet may be sick and needs veterinary attention:

  1. Abnormal behaviour
  2. Change in the colour of their urine
  3. Diarrhea
  4. Discharge from the eyes and nose
  5. Loss of appetite
  6. Lumps on the body
  7. Scratching
  8. Shedding
  9. Weight loss

How long can pocket pets live for?

Some small pets can live much longer than others, it also depends on their lifestyle and care. In some cases most will have a life expectancy between one to three years, while other pocket pets like gerbils can live up to 10 years. Having a veterinary team to evaluate their health status and discuss their diets and home care can help your pet live longer.
